How do Udacity hiring partnerships work?
At Udacity, our goal is to make the connection between learning and jobs as direct—and as meaningful—as possible. We works closely with industry leaders such as SAP, ZEISS or Audi to create our project-based learning programs. These unique collaborations ensure that students learn the technology skills that employers value most. Udacity’s hiring partners list which roles are open along with the role’s requirements. Udacity then puts qualified students and and graduates in touch with select talent managers.

What does Jaguar Land Rover find fascinating about the sector it operates in?
The automotive industry is going through an incredibly exciting time, with multiple technologies converging to dramatically change the way we use and interact with vehicles – and also what customers expect from them. Major transformations are underway related to electrification, autonomous driving, connectivity, and vehicle mobility/ownership. We are investing heavily to push the boundaries of innovation and play a lead role in this industry transformation.
Above all, we are taking the automotive industry forward by being …
- Even when drivers are doing the driving, these intelligent systems will still be working in the background to help keep them safe and ensure they enjoy their drive. The range of sensors and ADAS systems that will lead to autonomous driving will also help make cars safer with a driver in control.
- A fleet of more than 100 Jaguar Land Rover research vehicles will develop and test a wide range of connected and autonomous vehicle technologies, with real drivers in the real world over the next four years. Already self-driving cars have been tested on urban roads around Coventry and Solihull in the UK.
- We are taking a leading role in collaborative connected car and autonomous vehicle research projects. These will help develop the infrastructure, the technology and the legal and insurance landscape needed to make autonomous vehicles a reality in the next decade.
- The potential of the connected car is huge and one of our top priorities. We are making a significant investment in the technology, skills and partnerships to make this a reality and to ensure the car has a prominent role in the Internet of Things. This will enhance the driving experience and make driving smarter, safer and even cleaner in the years to come.
- For all of the connected car technologies Jaguar Land Rover has delivered, customer confidentiality and the security and privacy of customer data are paramount. Cyber security is among the industry’s top priorities and, as we develop new connected features and technology, we will incorporate security solutions from the first stages of design and production.
"We are committed to introducing electrification with all models being electric by 2020"
- We are on a very positive trajectory to reduce vehicle emissions and improve fuel economy through more efficient and downsized engines and alternative powertrains, lighter vehicles and improved vehicle energy conservation. We will comply fully with future environmental legislation.
- We are committed to introducing electrification with all models being electric by 2020 and will be releasing the stunning I Pace in 2018. We are pursuing a bold research into electrification and developing unique MHEV, BEV and PHEV technologies.
- We have confirmed our electric future with an entry for Jaguar into the innovative FIA Formula E Championship. This investment will push the boundaries of electrification technology and provides a real-world, fast-track test bed for future Jaguar Land Rover electrification technology that will transfer technology from track to road.
All of the above demonstrates the challenges but also opportunities that we face at this time of unprecedented change in our industry.

One anecdote from Jaguar Land Rover’s founding story…
Jaguar started out in 1922 as Swallow Sidecar company building sidecars for motorcycles; Land Rover began in 1947 with the first prototype built on a Jeep chassis. Both companies have been merged with various other companies down the years such as British Leyland, BMW, Ford and, most recently, Tata Motors. Under Tata’s stewardship since 2008, Jaguar Land Rover has developed an expanding and exciting product line and experienced year-on-year growth. Ongoing exciting chapters in the histories of these two brands are still to be written.

How does Jaguar Land Rover differ from other industry leaders when it comes to finding and hiring talent?
Like other industry leaders, we want to hire and keep the best talent. So we’re turning recruitment on its head starting with you (not the job), exploring many alternative and innovative approaches to find the skills that we need, such as our partnership with Udacity and the Code-Breakers app challenge in partnership with the Gorillaz. And we’re open to finding new talent through non-traditional means; for example, we do not hire exclusively from a small set of universities or degree courses – the important thing is having the capabilities that we need.
Now it’s your turn to rant: What do you never want to read in an application ever again?
A cover letter for another company or job. We want you to want us, to join our Jaguar Land Rover family.
