Talk 1: The Extraordinary Journey of a Software Engineer & What It Takes to Be a Well-Rounded Developer in 2018

Becoming a well-rounded developer usually requires you to cover a lot of skills. For beginners it might be overwhelming to understand what you need to learn and how everything gets together at the end.

Talk 2: Intro to Data Science

In this talk, Laura da Silva will introduce what data science means and what skills you have to develop to become a data scientist. She will go through different common techniques of supervised and unsupervised learning, and she will show a simple example on how to apply data science with R.

Speaker: Laura da Silva is the Tech Principal Data Scientist at Elastacloud. She got a degree in Mathematics and a PhD in High Performance Computing at the University of Almeria (Spain). Her working experience is as varied as secondary maths teacher, software engineer and currently a very motivated lead in Data Science. She believes in the combination of CRISP-DM and Agile methodologies for fast Data Science delivery. She is the founder of a Meetup group called “Inspiring Women in Data Science” which supports women from different backgrounds to transition into Data Science careers. She is always willing to grab a coffee and chat around any project STEM or Data Science related.
